ענקית הקמעונאות האמריקאית וולמארט הודיעה ביום חמישי שהיא מתכננת להוסיף תחנות טעינה לרכב חשמלי לאלפי החנויות הפרוסות בארה"ב עד שנת 2030.
החברה הודיעה כי תרחיב את רשת הטעינה המהירה של EV שלה למיקומי וולמארט ו-Sam's Club ברחבי הארץ, ותוסיף לכמעט 1,300 תחנות EV הפועלות כיום ב-280 ממיקומי החברה. וולמארט לא סיפקה פרטים נוספים על ההשקעה.

בוולמארט מסרו כי הם נמצאים בהליך מציאות ספקים שיספקו את השירות והיא מתכננת להחזיק ולהפעיל את העמדות הטעינה של EV ברשת הארצית שלה. החברה צופה כי יותקנו בממוצע ארבעה מטענים בכל חניה של חנות משתתפת, כך דווח ברויטרס.
בעבר, וולמארט עבדה עם ספקי מטעני EV, EVgo. החברה הגדילה את הרשת שלה באופן משמעותי במהלך השנתיים האחרונות. "גישה קלה לטעינה תוך כדי תנועה היא שובר שוויון לנהגים שהיססו לרכוש רכב חשמלי מחשש שהם לא יוכלו למצוא מטען במיקום נוח ופשוט בעת הצורך", מסר וישאל קפאדיה, סגן נשיא בכיר לשינוי אנרגיה, בהצהרה.
ההרחבה המתוכננת תהפוך את הבעלות של רכב חשמלי לאמינה יותר, אמר קפאדיה, יותר מ-4,7000 חנויות ו-600 Sam's Club ממוקמים בטווח של כ-15 ק"מ מביתם של כ-90% מהאמריקאים, כך מעריכים בוולמארט.
