יו"ר ארגון רבני צהר ורב העיר שוהם הרב דוד סתיו, התייחס לקרע בחברה הישראלית וגילה כי ישנה עלייה בבקשת תיקי כתובה ותעודות נישואים בלשכתו ברבנות העיר שוהם לצרכי הגירה.
הרב דוד סתיו אמר: "החברה הישראלית חשה השנה מה פרושו של קרע שלכאורה בא עלינו משום מקום. מציאות מאוד קשה שאנחנו צריכים להתגבר עליה. אני אופטימי שנצא מהמשבר הזה רק אני מפחד פחד גדול שחלק מאיתנו לא יהיה איתנו בסוף המשבר. אני שומע על האיומים של רופאים ואחרים לעשות ריילוקשיין ולעזוב את הארץ ושכנים שלי אומרים שהם רוכשים פספורטים. זה מדאיג".

הרב סתיו הוסיף: "ברור לי שמספר היורדים מהארץ אם לא תהיה כאן תפנית משמעותית יילך וייגדל וזה אסון גדול. בלשכת הרבנות בה אני נמצא מספר המבקשים תיקי כתובה ותעודות נישואים לצרכי הגירה הוא לא במידה שהיה בשנים קודמות. יש 6-10 פניות ביום, מה שהיה בשנים קודמות פעם בחודש".
הרב סתיו התייחס גם לקריאות לפתוח מסעדות בתשעה באב ואמר כי "לציין את זכר תשעה באב זה כמו לציין את זכר השואה וזכר חללי צהל. לא עושים בכך טובה לאף אחד. זה זיכרון משותף של כולנו. אני בטוח שכל מי שעומד ביום הזיכרון או סוגר מסעדה בתשעה באב מכבד את האתוס המשותף לכולנו. צריך לדעת שחלק מהמחיר של החצי שנה האחרונה הוא קרע לא רק חברתי אלא קרע בין היהודי לישראלי. היהדות של כולם והישראליות של כולם".
