סוני נשארת מאחור: זו הקונסולה שעומדת להפוך למצליחה ביותר בעולם

ענקית הגיימינג היפנית נינטנדו, מסכמת את השנה עם עלייה מטאורית בשווי המנייה שלה ומכירה של יותר מ-139 מיליון יחידות של קונסולת ה-Switch. האם היא בדרך לשבור את שיאי המכירות של סוני?

ענקית הגיימינג נינטנדו, נמצאת באחת התקופות הטובות ביותר שלה, כששווי המניה שלה מזנק ב-60% בבורסת טוקיו ונמצא בשיא כל הזמנים, הצלחה מרשימה של "האחים סופר מריו – הסרט" ומעל כל אלו נתוני המכירות של קונסולת ה-Switch שבדרך לשבור שיא.
בדוחות שהחברה פרסמה בנוגע לפעילותה הפיננסית בשנה החולפת עולה שמאז שההשקה ב-2017 המכירות של מערכת הגיימינג הניידת-נייחת שלה הגיעו ל-139.36 מיליון יחידות (עלייה של 6.9 מיליון יחידות מחודש נובמבר 2023).
ה-PlayStation 2 של סוני נחשבת לקונסולת הגיימינג המצליחה ביותר בהיסטוריה עם מכירות כוללות של יותר מ-158 מיליון יחידות במהלך מחזור חייה. במידה והמכירות של נינטנדו ימשיכו בקו הנוכחי גם בשנה הנוכחית היא עשויה  ימשיכו כך במהלך השנה הנוכחי היא עשויה לעקוף את היקפי המכירות של ה-PlayStation 2. נראה כי ניצחון על וה-PS2 יהיה קאמבק אדיר אחרי הכשלון הצורם של ה-Wii U, שמכרה רק 13.5 מיליון יחידות במהלך חייה.
אין ספק שההצלחה של ה-Switch, בדומה להצלחה של ה-PlayStation 2, היא הוכחה לכך שתוכן איכותי (או משחקים איכותיים, במילים אחרות) חשוב לא פחות מעוצמת החומרה עליה הפלטפורמה מבוססת כך שנותר לנו רק לקוות כי המתחרות סוני ומיקרוסופט ידאגו להמשיך להשקיע בהיבט הזה (מבלי להגזים עם נושא הבלעדיות), ולא רק בנתונים הטכניים היבשים של כל מערכת.
