על רקע הדריכות הביטחונית הגוברת לקראת תגובה משמעותית מאיראן ומחיזבאללה לחיסולים בביירות ובטהרן, הרמטכ"ל רא"ל הרצי הלוי החליט הבוקר (ראשון) על שורת מינויים משמעותית בזרוע היבשה. מינויים אלו קיבלו את אישורו של שר הביטחון יואב גלנט במסגרת דיון איוש. 
במסגרת סבב המינוים, אל"מ איתמר לסרי ימונה לראש חטיבת התורה וההדרכה ויועלה לדרגת תא"ל. אל"מ אהוד ביבי ימונה לראש חטיבת כוח האדם בזרוע היבשה ויועלה לדרגת תא"ל. אל"מ תומר שרייבר ימונה לראש החטיבה הטכנולוגית ליבשה באגף הטכנולוגיה והלוגיסטיקה ויועלה לדרגת תא"ל.
בנוסף, אל"מ משה ארצי ימונה לקצין הטכנולוגיה והאחזקה הראשי באגף הטכנולוגיה והלוגיסטיקה ויועלה לדרגת תא"ל. אל"מ יצחק נחום ימונה למפקד מרכז ההספקה באגף הטכנולוגיה והלוגיסטיקה ויועלה לדרגת תא"ל. סא"ל הילה פטוקה תמונה לראש מחלקת ארגון באגף התכנון ותועלה לדרגת אל"מ.
הלוי קיים ביום חמישי הערכת מצב במסדרון מרכז רצועת עזה עם מפקד פיקוד הדרום, אלוף ירון פינקלמן, מפקד אוגדה 252, תת-אלוף מורן עומר ומפקדים נוספים. "המסר שלנו לכל המזרח התיכון השבוע – מי שתוקף אזרחי ישראל, מי שתוקף את מדינת ישראל, אנחנו מוכנים ללכת רחוק, יודעים להתאמץ מאוד להביא מודיעין מאוד מדויק, ללכת לפגוע, להרוג וגם לקחת סיכונים", אמר הרמטכ"ל. "תקפנו בביירות ואנחנו תוקפים בעזה, ואנחנו נהיה מאוד חזקים בהגנה, ואחר כך גם נתקוף מאוד חזק".
